Shanghai Climate Week
Shanghai Climate Week (SHCW) is a global non-profit platform for governments, businesses, academic institutes, and social institutions to communicate & collaborate on climate actions under the support of the UN & Chinese governments. It aims at “China Action, Asia Voice, Global Standard,” pushing social forces of engagement in China’s commitment to carbon peaking and neutering goals, amplifying Asia’s voice for green transformation, enhancing international communication & collaboration in response to climate change, and participating in design & implementation of international standards.

Our Impact

HKQAA & CQC on ESG Due Diligence
ESG Due Diligence is crucial in investing, as it helps assess potential investments' environmental, social, and governance practices. WeCarbon, together with the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) and China Quality Certification Center (CQC), initiated the ESG Due Diligence standard-setting initiative. They aim to create a standardized framework for evaluating the sustainability and ethical impact of their investments, ensuring alignment with global standards and local regulatory requirements.

Our Impact
- In 2023, WeCarbon led the creation of China's first ESG due diligence standard together with the Shenzhen government, HKQAA, China Quality Certification Centre (CQC), and other partners. Through the pilot, local governments and industry associations have mandated ESG due diligence for investments.

Climate and Sustainability Photography Awards
Climate change is a global challenge for everyone. China, as the world's largest developing country, has actively implemented a series of strategies, measures, and actions to address climate change. Significant positive outcomes have been achieved by China in addressing climate change by participating in global climate governance. In the journey to address global climate change, youth are key participants, promoters, and leaders in constructing global ecological civilization and achieving sustainable development. They bear an extraordinary mission of the times. Documentary images can arouse the resonance and passion of young people and have the power to convey to the public the idea of harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature.
“The 2024 Climate and Sustainable Photography Awards” is dedicated to enhancing youth awareness of sustainable development through documentary imagery, inspiring young people to rethink ways of establishing harmonious coexistence with the natural world. Drawing from the principles of nature, nurturing all living things, it seeks to explore development opportunities through nature conservation, achieving a win-win situation for both ecological environment protection and high-quality economic development.
As the highlight of 2024 Shanghai Climate Week, the 1st exhibition launched on April 22nd, Earth Day, at the Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai, and the 2nd exhibition launched on June 18th at WF Central in Beijing. From content planning to material selection, the exhibition has taken sustainability into consideration from end to end.

- WeCarbon had the privilege of supporting this impactful event, contributing to its sustainability focus.
- WeCarbon's co-founder Shi Yiran, also representing the secretary-general of the hosting institution, drove the whole process from planning, organization, and guest invitation to ensure the event's success.
